ExpanDrive v2.0.3 for Windows

Jeff Mancuso June 20th, 2011

We’ve gotten great feedback during our public beta of ExpanDrive 2 for Windows.

Today we’re releasing a new beta that fixes all known outstanding issues:

  • Some text editors were warning that the file had been changed, when it had not. This is fixed.
  • Symbolic links to folders are now accessible, even above the mounted path
  • Windows XP support was flakey in a couple situations, this has been resolved.

Jeff, Hooray for symlinks and for UTF8-less remote file systems that work flawlessly without even needing configuration(!?) – brilliant! Furthermore, I just noticed another nice 2.0 feature: the transmission of remote partition and free sizes. Hidden .files would still be very welcome, but so far I want to say: Really Well Done! /Sebastian

On Windows XP SP2 32-bit running as a non-administrative user, the program installs and runs successfully, however the drive is never truly mounted despite ExpanDrive (2.0.3 beta) saying that it is. I attempted to install ExpanDrive as an administrator through “Run As…”, but the installer errored saying: “The folder ‘C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\ExpanDrive’ does not exist.” When attempting to run the user-installed ExpanDrive as admin (using “Run As…”), it errored saying that my trial 30 days has expired (this is the first time I’ve ever installed 2.x).

    Please advise and/or fix. Thanks!

S3 support seems to be buggy. On one hand it is inconsistent when the Save button is grayed out and when it is not – not all field changes will make it available.

Certain fields are not saved, and it looks as if the Secret Key would be corrupted when saved. Remote path is never saved after the initial creation.

I was unable to connect to any of my S3 buckets.

As a followup – I either got “NoSuchKey” or “SignatureDoesNotMatch”. I’ve been using S3 for a good while, and my key pair is fine.

The default remote path ( tested with / ) and originally set to “entire server” is not retained when importing settings from 1.8.x.

Previous drive mapping settings don’t show up in the drive settings, although they are imported.

  • Konrad

When working with a text editor (EditPlus) I realized that compared to the previous (1.8.?) version, files load faster, but when changing between files already loaded, there is now a slight freeze in 2.0.3 that wasn’t there in 1.8.x.
