Bingodisk gets folded into Strongspace

Jeff Mancuso August 5th, 2010

For those of you out there who have BIngodisk accounts – please be aware that at the end of the month Bingodisk, an only disk service formerly run by Joyent – is being turned off. We are offering all Bingodisk customers a simple and hopefully painless migration path into Strongspace. Simply log in to www.strongspace using your username@bingodisk.com username and password and you will be presented with a path to migrate in. More on this soon, but we wanted to make sure the word was out. Thanks!

Does this mean that if I already have a StrongSpace account with you all, that migrating my bingoDisk would be superfluous? That is, the features I wanted when I signed up for bingoDisk are now essentially part of StrongSpace? I don’t care about WebDav, which I understand is not to be part of bingoDisk, but I want to remain able to serve up media files to the public.

Ok, as I understand things, my public folder on StrongSpace now serves the function of the public folder on my bingoDisk account. Here’s the problem, the only way I can retrieve my bingoDisk files is to use WebDav to copy them to my hard drive. Then, and only then, can I put them on my SS/public folder, but only through the web interface. In addition, I must recreate the file structure manually. I can only upload files, but not files with their sub directories. Am I missing something?

Can’t we have expanDrive access the public folder on SS as just another folder on my hard drive? FWIW, I’m on Windoz (sorry ’bout that, but because of work-related issues I have no choice).

Oh, I forgot to mention, WebDav on Windoz really blows. Half the files “can’t be found” even though they’re listed. Bah! Couldn’t we at least have sftp access to the public folder?

Larry – you do indeed have SFTP acces to the public folder, it is at /strongspace/username/public

When you migrate, all your public files automatically get copied into there. Can you shoot an email to support@strongspace.com with whatever questions you have rather than this comment thread? Thanks! -Jeff
